Lab 2

Lecture 2

In Professor Rocha's lecture: "The Nature of Information", he explains how signs are used in several ways. There are three types of signs which include: icons, indices, and symbols. According to Claude Shannon, information is defined as "the mathematical theory of communication". Information ,according to our Professor, is either Analog or Digital. The difference between them is that analog uses the "Binary System" while digital uses numerical digits. An example of this would be vinyl records (Analog) and Compact discs (Digital).

I look forward in learning about both systems.

Library of Babel

This story was very hard to understand. From what I understood from it, the library is considered the universe and the shelves would be full of books which would be the lives of people. The shelves I guess would be different countries of the world as well. That's all I understood from it but I would like to have a better understanding of it. Peace.
